The variety of Galapagos big tortoise species in existence is controversial, and the result could have an effect on how we shield these endangered animals.

Researchers recognized 16 big tortoise populations (chelonoidis spp.) unfold to the Galapagos Islands because of variations in shell shapes, habits, and genetics. Three of those at the moment are extinct because of searching, lack of habitat for agriculture, and the emergence of invasive species similar to goats competing for his or her meals. …
