Researchers cannot 'exclude' bird flu spreading among sea lions

Greater than 600 sea lions have been discovered lifeless or dying off the coast of Peru this 12 months within the first mass dying of untamed mammals from chicken flu in South America.

An enormous avian flu epidemic amongst sea lions in Peru has rekindled fears that the virus might be transmitted amongst mammals.

Greater than 600 sea lions (otaria flavescens And Arctocephalus australis) was discovered lifeless or dying on the seashores of Peru.

Six animals have been examined for the flu and all examined constructive. PCR exams confirmed the virus to be the H5N1 avian influenza subtype, which has killed tens of hundreds of thousands of untamed and wild animals.
