The next 10,000 years of Greenland ice sheet could be decided this century

If cumulative carbon emissions attain 1,000 gigatons, a lot of the Greenland ice sheet may soften over the following 10,000 years, roughly double what’s at the moment emitted.

World warming brought on by emissions of carbon dioxide and different greenhouse gases is already inflicting important melting of the Greenland ice sheet. By 2100, solely meltwater from Greenland is predicted to contribute to a couple centimeters of sea degree rise.
